Quality control steps
The first selection step is carried out through purchase. Firstly, we select the best European slaughterhouses to buy raw materials from. Secondly, specialised workers from our company, with a wide experience in raw selection, are sent there to inspect and choose the hides directly. This phase is fundamental, because it enables us to choose each hide accurately, according to the standards of the article we are going to produce.
Once selected and shaved, hides are selected again, for either a light or dark colour tanning.
A very important step for the quality of our finished leathers is the tanning process. Small pieces of leathers are dried during the process, to check the final colour and article result.
A further quality control concerns the finished leather: finishing is checked using a xenon arc tester to verify the leather’s light fastness and photo stability. Different kinds of light are simulated, such as sunlight, show room, domestic and ultraviolet light.
In the end, another control is made on the final product: leathers are chosen before being measured.
Each batch is monitored, using sheets recording production processes and a univocal number concerning raw materials’ origin.
Lab tests
Each batch is tested. A lab is available in our factory to verify criteria such as light and rub fastness.
