Raw material

All hides come from slaughterhouses in Western Europe, as a waste product from the food industry, and are brought to the tannery by refrigerator trucks.

Beamhouse

Leather hides are soaked, shaved and split.

Beamhouse – splitting

Each leather hide is divided into grain (grain side) and split (flesh side).

Tanning

The tanning process transforms raw hides into non-perishable material, called "wet blue".

Sammying

In the sammying process, grease and excess moisture is squeezed out of the hides by passing them through large rollers under pressure.

Shaving

Leather gets a uniform thickness, according to the customer’s needs.

Retanning and dyeing

This process adds colour, consistency and softness to the leather.

Drying

The drying process involves different techniques - air drying, vacuum drying, and toggle drying - depending on the customer’s requirements.

Preparation to finishing

Staking and milling. Leather is made softer through the use of staking machine and drum milling.

Finishing: spraying line

Leather is sprayed in order to get the color and appearance required.

Ironing and embossing

Leather is ironed to increase shine effect and improve the touch of the surface and it is then embossed in order to get the required kind of grain.

Analysis and inspection - Physical – chemical tests

Each lot is tested by the internal lab.

Analysis and inspection - Selection

Leather is carefully checked and selected before the shipment.

Sizing

Leather is measured and labeled (when required). Each label shows selection grade, batch number and size.

Packing and shipping

Leather hides are packed and shipped.
